PROJECT STATUS
Hector H. Hernandez is currently developing the art piece based on the previous workshops with the community. When concept is complete we will provide an update here.
WHAT IS A MURAL?
A mural is a painting or other work of art executed directly on a wall. In this case, it will be a ceramic tile mosaic mural installed on a low wall at the Jackson Gas Station property. This will be part of their renovation project in 2020/2021.
WHERE WILL THE MOSAIC BE LOCATED?
The mural will be installed on the Northwest corner of 82nd St. & Glisan. It will run along the southern perimeter of the Jackson Gas Station property. Jackson Gas Station is funding the mural and corner seating area as a donation to our neighborhood.
DOES THE MURAL HAVE A THEME?
Yes, we have chosen two themes for the mural: 1) Our diverse heritage and 2) Unity. We deeply value our heritage as the most diverse neighborhood in Portland - from age to culture to worldview - and we are keen to elevate our unity and strengthen our community ties. What ideas do you have?
