Montavilla Neighborhood Association General & Board Meeting
Montavilla United Methodist Church
232 SE 80th Ave, Portland, OR 97215
Muz Afsal from SEUL, Southeast Uplift, leads off our meeting to talk about some workshops that might helpful to members of the community. First up is a workshop on community conversations coming up later this month, It is entitled “Exploring Power and Privilege with Courage, Creativity, and Compassion", with Ridhi D’Cruz on Monday, March 25th at 6 PM at Portland Metro Arts Center 9003 SE Stark St Portland, OR 97216. This program is hosted by SE Uplift in partnership with Montavilla Neighborhood Association and sponsored by Oregon Humanities.
Jonathan Lewis along with Teri Poppino of Office of Community & Civic Life, will be speaking on the topic of Crime Prevention. Jonathan works with the City of Portland, Homelessness/Urban Camping Impact Reduction Program. While Jonathan has the responsibility to enforce no-camping ordinances, perhaps he can offer us an insider’s perspective on working with the homeless. The focus for the community meeting is on how best we can interact with situations that you might find yourself in; what rights do they have, what rights do we have? What do we do when problems or conflicts arise, or we feel unsafe?
Also: We are looking for volunteers to serve on the MNA Board of Directors!
