About The GNA Committee

The Montavilla Neighborhood Association (MNA) and the Montavilla and East Tabor Business Association (METBA) have formed a Joint Ad-hoc Advisory Committee to create a Good Neighbor Agreement for the Safe Rest Village being constructed by the Joint Office of Homeless Servies at 333 SE 82nd Ave.

This committee is responsible for engaging with the Montavilla community to gather input on the creation of a Good Neighbor Agreement for the Montavilla Community Village Project. Our goal is to represent the needs of the residents and businesses most likely to be impacted by the project, and to create a framework which ensures communication and follow through from all stakeholders.

It is important to our committee that our community understands that we are here to advocate on your behalf. We are neighbors and business owners who are invested in making sure Montavilla can be a healthy and prosperous neighborhood. We understand the challenges and frustrations that exist and are dedicated to a solutions focused approach to improvement. We welcome you to contact us at anytime with your questions and concerns.

Proposed GNA Timeline:

PHASE 1 - Research

Create a list of known SRV sites, GNA agreements, and associated contact information for NAs and BAs who have been through the GNA process. Visit sites, take photos, make notes on what’s working and what’s not. Conduct 1-1 outreach with other NAs and BAs who have been through the GNA process.

PHASE 2 - Outreach

JOHS leads community outreach, Joint Committee has input. JOHS facilitates community meetings and meetings with stakeholders. Joint Committee receives input through goodneighbors@metba.org.

PHASE 3 - Good Neighbor Agreement

Joint Committee processes all inputs from research and outreach, drafts and reviews GNA. Updates and changes are proposed through meetings with stakeholders. Wash, rinse, repeat. GNA is approved by 2/3rds majority of quorum and sent to MNA and METBA boards.

PHASE 4 - Maintenance - ongoing

Establish reports to MNA and METBA through one representative. Follow a process for correcting issues that come up.

Current Status:

The Joint GNA Committee is currently between PHASE 1 and PHASE 2. We are wrapping up our research and beginning to work with JOHS on gathering community feedback on what should be included in our GNA. If you would like to share input please take the survey below
